My published works cover politics, government beats and local community, but I bear a strong interest for money in sports, climate change, culture and technologies development. Some of my stories can be read in the York College – CUNY’s Pandora’s Box and in the Long Island Herald in addition to in my own blog page.
Climate Scientists Issues New Global Warming Alert
This story (April 7, 2022) echoed an experts report released in February according to which the earth surface global warming was rising to higher than the 1.5 degrees Celsius expected. While this warning from 270 scientists representing 67 countries is disregarded by many it keeps growing concern across the world.
New York City’s Plan to Relocate People Housing in Trains and Stations Divides Subway Riders
For this story about the relocation of homeless people from the subway trains and stations, I interviewed riders, some of whom did believe that the city’s plan would succeed. It included “expanded outreach teams with the NYPD officers and clinicians, additional housing and mental health resources, and outlined long-term systems improvements through changes to state and federal laws to connect more New Yorkers to the care they need.”
Mayor Adams Lays Out Revised Budget Proposal After First 100 Days in Office
I wrote this story using Mayor Eric Adam’s April-26-2022 speech where he emphasized a revised budget proposal for the year 2022-2023 raising it to $99.7 billion.
Students Can Expect At Least Four More Years of Ongoing Construction at York College
I explored campus issues as well from endless construction works to graduation money and events-related. Profiling student-athletes or spreading the news about CUNY expanding online instruction were some other campus stories assigned to me.
My internship works at Long Island Herald were specifically based on local news. An interview with the legislator Delia Deriggi-Whitton on the absence of buses on the Glen Cove routes on weekends led her to seek for and obtain from the Nassau Inter-County Express the deployment buses 27 and 23 on Saturday and Sunday.
And my story has called the attention of both the editorial team and the city of Glen Cove.
Jaida Ciampi wins Echoes of Freedom contest
Another story in the Long Island Herald was about the winner of an essay contest organized by the Glen Cove Public Library and the Veteran Affairs Office “to honor the city’s military service men and women.”
I am able to work on a variety of topics from politics, government, transportation, sports, businesses to web technologies. Comfortable in broadcast, print and online news, I have a skillset in video and photo editing. I, in addition, know design and layout principles as soon as coding. I would conclude by saying that my fluency in foreign languages, such as French, has opened my mind to the international news.
