LaLiga delivers just four victories out of ten games. Atlético Madrid and FC Seville launch the challenge from the second matchday. Vinicius Junior in savior.
None of LaLiga matchday 1 winners obtains a second victory last week but Atletico Madrid and FC Seville, which share the leadership at the end of the matchday 2. The reigning champions beat Elche (1-0) thanks to Ángel Martín Correa Martínez (39’), the current top scorer (3) alongside Vinicius Junior and Erik Lamela. On Monday, FC Seville win Getafe to rejoin Atletico as a co-leader. Lamela who is just recruited from Tottenham scored the winning goal in the additional time (90+3). The two more serious challengers, FC Barcelona, and Real Madrid, bring a draw respectively from Bilbao and Valencia (Levante).
Barca has very trouble playing Levante, which lead the score little in the second halftime. But the defense, in particular Ter Stegen, must be in a great day to prevent the hosts from marking earlier in the game. Apart a big misfiring of Braithwaite in the first five minutes following an infiltration of Memphis Depay from the right side into the penalty square, the Catalonians show few things during the first part.
In fact, Barca’s players leave the initiative to the very dynamic Basques who might complain about their bad luck as evidenced by this ball on the crossbar of the young (21 yrs.) Oihan Sancet Tirapu (11’). And, on a corner from the right, Iñigo Martínez Berridi heads the ball to the cage out of Ter Stegen reach (50’) giving the lead to his team. Being led to the score awaken the Barca un Barca more rapid and straightforward, and Francky De Young reaches the crossbar two minutes before Depay (75’) launch an unstoppable bullet into the cage (1-1).
Thanks to Vinicius Junior.
Real Madrid did not have an easy game either in Bilbao, at Athletic Club home. If they lead (1-0, Bale, 5’) at halftime, they will need to hurry the saver Vinicius Junior from the bench to get them out of trouble. Indeed, the hosts equalize (Roger Martí, 46’) and adds a new one (José Campana, 57’) inducing the vice-champions in doubt for a while.
Thus, Ancelotti carries out four changes, among them Vinicius Junior who will score twice. He first transformed into goal (73’) a long and deep pass from Casemiro after speeding up the opposing defenders. Levante’s Róber Pier gives back the advantage to his team (79’) before Vini does it gain. And his second goal (85) is a wonder, a semi-lob done with right foot, from the left side of the square, near the goal line, assisted by Benzema. Final score 3-3. Already scorer at the previous game, Vinicius Junior share the top scoring with his neighbor from Atlético Madrid Angel Correa with three realizations.
